In my mind when it’s August it’s already Autumn and that means October and October means Halloween, Pumpkin Spice…everything and P.Ink Day. What is P.Ink Day? It is a labor of love across the United States where generous tattoo artists and volunteers collaborate to help heal a handful of women who have had breast surgery.
When I started this blog back in the dark ages when we still used iphone4 and nobody knew what snapchat was I wrote about my own experience with having a preventative double mastectomy (BRCA1 – you bitch.) and eventually having my scars tattooed by a wonderful woman named Amber Sanders of Voodoo Ink.
I can not fully describe what it felt like to take back and remake a part of my body that had been so radically altered and made ugly in my eyes. I healed my relationship with my body with those tattoos – and launched a major tattoo obsession in the process.
It is my honor to be the leader for P.Ink Day for Northern California again this year. I am thrilled to have 3 talented artists on board; Kristy Quinones of Black and Blue Tattoo (she participated last year and created this stunning tattoo for Kerry)

Chris Rogers also of Black and Blue Tattoo who has lots of experience tattooing scar tissue and has a very personal connection to P.Ink Day, and my dear girl Amber Sanders of Voodoo Ink in Mendocino who was the artist who made my boobs beautiful for me again.
